Leverage AI for improved elearning content

Workseed launched new AI-powered tools at the turn of the year, designed to speed up content production and facilitate the creation of learning materials.

The new tools have been developed in close collaboration with our users and are designed to meet specific needs. The AI tools can speed up creating original digital learning materials, as well as improving the quality of existing materials. 
 

AI tools for content creation are now available

 

Workseed AI tools for content production have been designed to help speed up the teacher’s work and enable scalable production of learning materials.

By default, the content producer is expected to check the content produced by the AI. Content production tools are designed to make it difficult to accidentally publish content to users before it has been reviewed and corrected by a human.

The tools run in the background, making it easier to work in situations where content takes a long time to create. The content creator can concentrate on other tasks while the AI generates articles, audio files or even assignments.

Transcription of video and audio files. The transcription tool facilitates the creation of articles based on webinars, lecture recordings, or other media files. It is possible to create texts directly from the recording, but the AI can also correct the spelling of the text during the transcription process. The generated text can be used as it is in the article, or it can be edited before publication.

Creating an audio recording from text. Any text file can be used to create an audio file that can be incorporated into an article or assignment. In the student interface, the audio file appears as a simple media player that allows listening, changing the playback point, and changing the playback speed.

Creating images. The title of an assignment or article can be used as a prompt to create an image file in the image editor of the platform.

Editing, summarizing and expanding text. Tools can be used to edit the text created for an article. Text can be edited for clarity, summarized, or expanded.

The advantage of AI over humans is that it often produces text that is easier to read and is more clearly structured, which is why text editing can be a valuable tool.

Creating H5P assignments from content. A particularly interesting tool is the automatic creation of H5P Question Sets with automatic checking. This tool allows the creation of multiple-choice tasks related to articles, which saves the teacher a lot of time and allows for a more comprehensive practice of the topics taught.

Translation of content. Articles and assignments can now be automatically translated into all languages supported by the platform. The tool allows quick drafting of language versions. Translations can be used as they are, or proofread and edited. In both cases, content production is significantly faster than if the content had been translated in-house.

Our product development team is also working on a glossary tool that allows you to create a list of frequently used terms. This tool will facilitate the consistent use of key terms by the user organisation, also in automatically translated content.

Example workflow for content creation

Content production with the new tools might look like this.

Production can start with a ready-made lecture recording – this could be a recording of a live lecture, a video slideshow, or any other multimedia content.

This presentation can be translated into a draft article using the transcription tool. The tool transforms the audio track of the file into a draft text, from which unnecessary pauses and filler words can be removed automatically.

The draft is ready for review and polishing by the content producer. If necessary, the text can also be edited using the content editing tools – the text can be condensed or edited to make it clearer. AI is also a good tool to improve paragraphing and headings.

The finished text can be published as an article on the Workseed learning platform. If necessary, an illustration can be automatically generated for the text.

For accessibility, it may also be important to be able to listen to the content. An audio track can be automatically generated from the article, which can be easily listened to by the user even without a browser reader.

Learning outcomes are likely to be better when a student has at least some practice. It is therefore useful to include at least a few multiple-choice exercises in the article, so that students have to actively review what they have just read. You can easily create H5P activities at the end of the article. 3-5 questions per article is often an appropriate amount.

If the content is created in a multilingual environment, draft translations of all content can be easily created in the matter of seconds. It is significantly faster for the content producer to check the machine translation rather than to translate the contents by hand. 

In this model workflow, several hours of work can be completed in minutes. AI also enables much faster content production, allowing the teacher to focus on other tasks and create materials for small groups.

 

How can I make the most of AI in my organization?
